The East Coast, a Mix of Local Traditions, Surf and Beautiful Beaches...
This coast has some of the best surfing beaches of the island. It is frequented by locals and visitors looking for relaxation, but at the same time some fun activities and social life.
Mocambique
One of the longest beaches in the Island, starts at Rio Vermelho at the north and joins the beach of Barra da Lagoa at his southern end. With good waves, it is often frequented by surfers.
Barra da Lagoa
One of our favorite destination, Barra da Lagoa has all the charm of an authentic fishing village, but at the same time it has the required infrastructure to make it a traveler's dream destination.

Traditions are still kept in Barra, as in the case of this sailor using the traditional gaff-rigged sail.
Galeta
This beach is of an incredible beauty, and if you don't mind to see some human bodies in their natural state (it is the only nudist beach in the island), you can enjoy of a very quiet and relaxing swimming or sun bathing place.

Mole
Mole is a favorite place for the young local crowd, the beauty of the beach matches the beauty of its occupants. You will see a lot physically well formed men and woman sunbathing or surfing, in their rather small swimming costumes.

Gravata

The surf championship used to be organized at Joaquina. It is now more of the family oriented beach, being that Mole the current happening place for the young crowd.
