The North: A Favorite Among Tourists The architecture in this area is not traditionally colonial but predominantly modern and developers not always follow the rules of harmony and good test. Other than that, the north of the island has many beautiful beaches to offer, often times preferred by families because of the calm waters. Crowds of Argentines visit this area every summer.

Canasvieiras

Canasvieiras -a sort of Mecca for Argentine tourists- is quiet developed and geared towards the mass tourism. With plenty of lodging, dining, and night cubs, is a good place for families with teenagers children.

Ingleses

Plenty of accommodations are available at Ingleses. A long beach strips with uncountable bars and restaurants where you can sit right at the beach in the north side, while the southern part of the beach is a corridor between the ocean and some beautiful and pristine sand dunes. Also an important archeological site is located at the southern tip of the beach, where you can see a series or rocks that were carved by the original inhabitants of the area.

Santinho

Separated from Ingleses by the cape is Santinho, a much smaller and quieter place. The small and charming village of Santinho is separated few hundred yards from the beach.

The wide beach of Santinho is the only beach exposed to the waves in the north cost.

Santinho features the only 5 star hotel in the island of Santa Catarina, which is right by the beach.
